4 Helpful Slime Tips: Answering Your Slime Questions

We get so many emails, messages, and comments asking about slime! This guide covers our most commonly asked questions with more details on how to make your slimes last, sticky slime tips, and more.

Keep Slime (and Everything It Touches) Clean

It's important to be responsible with the hygiene of you and your slime.

  • Wash your hands with soap before and after slime play time.
  • When using tables or countertops, always clean off surfaces beforehand.
  • Note: Make sure to remove debris if it gets in your slime before storing it.

Taking care of your slime with these simple steps can prevent bacteria or mold from growing on it, so keep your slimes (and everything they touch) clean!

Handling Sticky Slimes

Due to many reasons like temperature, shelf-life, or even warm hands, slime can feel sticky or tacky. At times like these, slime activator is your best friend! Here's how to make it:

  • Slime Activator Recipe: Add 1/2 teaspoon of borax powder to a 1/2 cup of warm water and mix until dissolved!
  • Add only a little activator liquid to your sticky slime, mix in, and repeat until you achieve your desired, non-sticky texture.

Every Snoopslimes order comes with a Slime Care Kit, which includes a borax powder packet. When handling borax powder, we strongly recommend wearing gloves. If gloves aren't available, please wash your hands thoroughly after handling borax powder!

Out of your home-made activator? Grab an extra slime activator spray from our shop for good measure!

What About Advanced Slimes?

Advanced slimes, like metallic or clear-base slimes, may feel sticky on warm hands, even after adding activator. Here are some tips for preventing that sticky feeling:

  • Wash your hands with cold water and soap before playing with advanced slimes.
  • Add a little bit of baby oil or lotion to dry hands to create a layer between your skin and the advanced slime.
  • During play, use quick hand-work to play with the slime (like it's a hot potato) to get used to the feeling in your hands.

Cleaning Slime Off Your Stuff

Play time is fun, but it can definitely get messy! No worries: it happens.

  • When cleaning slime off hard surfaces, use warm water and soap to thoroughly clean it off counter tops.
  • For fabrics on clothes or furniture, wait until the slime dries off and peel it off. Then use warm water and soap to wipe off any residue.

Slime spills are avoidable with gentle play, but for anyone looking for the best, mess-free texture, we recommend butter, cloud, and cloud dough slimes.

Making Slime Last

Slimes can last for a few months with proper care, like keeping it and everything it touches clean. There's more you can do to make it last:

  • Keeping it stored in an air-tight container, like the 6oz containers that our slimes come in. As an additional tip, you can use regular plastic storage so long as it seals!
  • Storing it in dry, cool to room-temperature spots in your home to prevent it from melting.

All slime eventually deflates! To make it last, follow the tips above. If you're feeling creative, watch our YouTube videos where Snoopslimes CEO and founder Jungmin fixes her slimes for a little inspiration on how you can do the same!
